About

Hi, just want to share a little background information about me. I am a mother of three, grandmother of two with a sweet third due March 2013. My partner and I have custody of our first grandchild Hannah who keeps us on our toes and laughing. I am an animal lover, my son likes to joke I am starting my own zoo. I prefer to call it my own personal petting zoo. Not to mention, I am in college and I work part time as a legal assistant.

I want to give you a synopsis of myself, my work, and my academic history. First, I have held many different skilled and unskilled positions, however, learning situations in numerous different fields. My initial venture into the work world was as a waitress where I learned the art of patience, reliability, and hard-work. This position also taught me the difficult but ultimately rewarding approaches of dealing with customer service issues. In return, this led me into management where I learned the art of listening, teaching, and leading by example. I spent quite some time in management, therefore, I enhanced my skills of listening, planning, dealing with the unexpected, and accountability.

My next venture led me to working in the manufacturing industry, in what some people call “plant work”, which entailed running a particular machine for eight hours a day. However, I quickly learned that I am the type of individual that needs stimulation, interaction, and problem-solving. Therefore, I moved on to working in construction and became a certified pipefitter and welder. This is an exciting field that requires laborious hours of problem-solving, patience, dedication, and skill. I enjoyed this line of work for quite some time and feel that one of the most important lessons I learned in this field is that the world is full of different types of people and it is quite pleasurable and beneficial getting to know these people. In addition, I also obtained certification in construction safety training from OSHA and obtained my commercial driving license.

Moreover, I learned from all past work experience that law is at the forefront of any type of business and I found myself becoming increasingly re-interested in my high school dream of working in the field of law. As a result, I decided it was time to take the leap into a college education that would put me on the road to achieving my dream of working in the field of law.

For that reason, I began my college education at Chattahoochee Valley Community College where I made the President’s List and was asked by several instructors to participate in a newly established internship they had with a local hospital because they wanted students who would make a good impression for the school. After getting my feet wet in the academic world at CVCC I then transferred to Auburn University at Montgomery and enrolled in the Legal Studies program where I have made the Dean’s List every semester but one at AUM. I am currently still attending AUM with an anticipated graduation of summer 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Justice & Public Safety with a major in Legal Studies and a minor in Psychology. My goal is to graduate with honors and proceed on to obtain a Master’s degree or go to Law School.

In conclusion, I am a well-rounded, stead-fast, and industrious individual with a take the lead assertiveness while thoughtfully encouraging fellow team members. My personal life history has afforded me many learning situations where I have learned and mastered the art of multi-tasking, reliability, inner strength, compassion, and to never give up. As a result, I take great pride in having grown into a diligent result-seeking individual that is always looking for the next issue to overcome. I believe with my extensive work life skills combined with my education formulates me into a well-versed scholar of the politics and laws of life.

I have many interests and consider myself a homegrown southern lady with a touch of sass. This blog came to be at the urging of my partner, she says I need an outlet for all the things that roll through my mind. So, join me and let’s see what my brain ponders today.
